Hello, and welcome to my video game blog. This is my first time trying to write a serious blog, and my goal is to get practice writing about video games, including previews, reviews, and general editorial type writings. The purpose of doing all this is that I would eventually like to land a job as a video game journalist. It is my dream to be able to make a living writing about games, the industry, and the culture of video games, because not only are they great entertainment, but the entertainment we engage in as a society tells alot about our society as a whole, so there is an anthropological element to the whole thing as well. In other words, the games we create and enjoy tell alot about who we are, which is a theme I would like to explore in my writings as well as giving my own take on the games themselves.
My next blog entry, and first actual article, is going to be an editorial on Duke Nukem Forever. This game has been bashed to bits by the major review outlets and alot of fans, many of them sorely dissapointed by how the game they waited "twelve fucking years" for turned out. But there are some people that still like it and have seen through the flaws. I will explore what about the game people hate and what there is about it that some people seem to like, and maybe I'll get Gearbox themselves to respond to all the hate. I can't promise the latter, but I'm sure going to try.
